We were sitting down eating home made pizza, the only way to be sure it's good, and jim was watching me closely, then he seemed almost to say HEY WHERE'S MINE and started bobbing his head and then leaning over towards me. I had the yellow, orange, and red bell peppers on mine now could it be the colors that made him say yummm or the smell? Also could he eat the bell peppers if i cut them up small enough? Thanks in advance, M.D.M.H.Z and JIM

Heh...its probably a little of both the colors and the smell. Eating the bell peppers would be fine as a treat, or even a small part of his daily diet. Just make sure they're not off a pizza if he eats them regularly...too much animal protein in pizza. ;D

I've heard stories of igs (Gil included) who go nuts about pizza... I've never let him have any, but we have to make sure he's in his enclosure when the pizza man comes.
IK is right that there's too much animal protein on pizza so it's best not to let your ig have any, but maybe next time you have yours, you could keep some bell peppers out for Jim... then he'd feel like he was getting a treat too.

Pizza is one of those foods you feed maybe once a month...and only one or two bites...with no cheese or tomato sauce.

OH MY NO, MERLIN!
LOL...as a matter of fact...there was a Pet Star episode where a woman had her 4 yr. old ig on there who apparently begged for a piece of pizza by standing on his back legs. He was really lured onto his back legs...and not very well. Well this sent an uproar through a couple of lists and set igs' care back about 15 yrs for anyone that didn't know ig care. She also said they only get up to about 4 feet...and also ate lettuce, chicken and eggs.
I went through the Aniaml Planet website...sent an email to several people and eventually sent a letter to the producer. He called me personally to talk to me about the episode and what I thought could be done. Though he could not put a statement on the show about what igs really need...he did say they would be more careful in the future on how the animals are shown...he read the care involved and sent it on to the owner of the ig.
He was incredibly understanding. THAT'S how I feel about pizza in general!

Yes they will eat pizza. I had a male iguana that the San Diego Herpetological Society president asked me to take that obviously was a junk food eater before I got him.
One day I had a piece of pizza I was about to bite into. Sampson was on the back of the couch near me. Well he grabbed it and took off. He wasn't very happy when I took it away. He also would try to steal chips and other greasy stuff. I didn't let him have the junk food but at the time the pet shop books were saying to give crickets or chicken occasionally. And so he occassionally but not often got some chicken breast meat. He ended up dying at the age of 8 of kidney failure--part of it was probably his poor diet before I got him and the chicken I gave him.

V... that's totally cool that the producer of the show actually contacted you... but it's even cooler that he passed on your information to the owner of that ig!
Way to go, girl!!
