I think that it is time to revisit this topic. Right now I am feeling that Bob is not getting enough water and I need to take more active measures in getting him hydrated.
Right now I have scaled back is food dish to a common sized dinner plate but wanting to keep it plastic I don’t have the nice deep pie pan walls. I pour water over the salad when I present it then mist it again later but this common method is not keeping him moist enough.
I gave him a bit of bread dripping with water this morning but am wondering if any of you have other suggestions short of an eyedropper of water right into his mouth.

Hydrated RepCal Adult Iguana Food pellets are good for hydration. You sprinkle a small amount on the salad. An excellent rehabber suggested it to me for Dragon. And when I called about a friend's iguana who was skinny and dehydated he recommended fit or her also. My friends iguana actually gained weight also. Dragon is more stubborn though so I'm having to force feed/hydrate her but she will still eat some solid food if I add the RepCal to it. Petco and Petsmart usually carry it and you can also buy it online.
There is a thread at IC under Heating called Humidity that has a discussion on the use of RepCal for hydration.

Seedless watermelon is also a good way to get extra fluids into your ig. In cases of severe dehydration, you can use a syringe with water or powerade in it, and just shoot it into his mouth. If you end up needing to do this, go very slowly and make sure that the liquid is dispensed toward the back of the tongue. The opening to his trachea is underneath the front of his tongue and...well...liquid in there is a bad thing. BTW...if you hand-feed the watermelon to ig Bob's size...three words...WATCH YOUR FINGERS! ;D He'll go nuts over it.

I agree that watermelon is a great way to rehydrate. Last year when Drako was in season and didn't want to eat hardly anything, he started to get really dehydrated. I gave him as much watermelon as he wanted, and after a couple of days, it also seemed to stimulate his appetite. For quite some time after that, I added little cut up chunks to his salad every day just to make sure he was getting enough fluid.

I can't get watermelon but for two months a year locally (July and August).
From posting with Dominick and Marie on another forum I am trying the Adult Rep-Cal pellets soaked in water on top of the salad. I am 24 hours into this method and the early results are promising.

Yup. That's available pretty much all year. A little off the subject, I'm keeping it secret from my igs that its almost pumpkin season. They go completely nuts over that too.
