Hi,
I've read here many times how iggs don't usually drink, and I'd like to share my (short) experience on this. My little green French poodle (he is so smoochy lately I don't even call him dinosaur anymore) doesn't drink still water, at least I've never seen him do it, BUT... I have seen him drink in two circumstances: 1) water drops on his shelf after spraying 2) running water from the artificial water fountain I have in his enclosure
Oh, and just once in the summer when he was in the sun with very little shade I saw him drink from a water dish.
But I was just sharing this because, maybe for those with that financial possibility, the water fountain might be an idea. For me it made sense that he would drink on those circumstances since they're closer to the ones occurring in natural habitats.

Zair has also readily taken laps from dripping water on the enclosure wall and licks at his "lips" from the water running down his nose.
A fountain is a good idea. Just some things to think about. Make sure the ig cannot poop in the fountain water. A kind of hidden "gargoyle" type fountain would work well. A recirculating system that would have a spout come from the wall and into a hidden well below. If you can't do something with a hidden resevoir and have an open pool or well instead....you would need a very good filtration system...which is possible...just costly. The Fluval brand canister filters for fish aquariums work pretty well for heavy duty water filtration using chemical, biological and mechanical mediums. The best is the Fluval 404 which filters up to 340 gallons per hour.
You might even try those tabletop tranquility fountains...might be easier...and a lot cheaper... ;D. Securing it would be the biggest thing there.

Hi, I have the medium water fall from exoterra www.exo-terra.com/ES/products/water_falls_i.html The text is in spanish, but you can see the pics of it. Little french poodle doesn't poop in it, but I change the water completely and wash the water fountain every 2/3 weeks. in the mean time every time I refill it I let it overflow a bit so any floating debries or whatever will be thrown out. Once a week I add a couple of drops of Amukina (less than half the dose they recomend for making the water drinkable, since little green poodle is much smaller that humans), in order to elimitate any nasty bacterias that may be developing. the water pump has a filter but it doesn't do much in this field. I have to refill it daily because I have a fogger in it and it pretty much evaporates most of the water during the 12h day time (its turned off ate night). The water fall and fogger costed over $100, but I don't remember exactly how much.
