Hello again, I did not see this subject discussed anywhere, forgive me if I missed it. Stinky is on a proper diet, Collard greens, slivered carrots, and sometimes a little mango or banana. I will do anything I need to to keep Stinky happy, Yet, I'm concerned about the outcome..Stinky poops about as much as a cow...Not all the time, Looks like stinky is pooping on a regular basis... YET, in order not to rip off Stinky, is there anything an owner can do to keep up the health and well being of his pet, and still cover an aspect of helping Stinky's stool to be a bit firmer, and not so....out of control?
Thanks in advance.

For starters, Stinky needs more variety in his diet. The carrots should be removed from his diet completely and replaced with parsnips. Have a look at this thread for some ideas on what to put on his daily menu. tesa.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=diet&action=display&thread=1131906462Since he's a new iguana to you, it would be a good idea for you to take him to a vet for a checkup. You should also have a fecal test done, since it sounds like he was living in pretty nasty conditions before you rescued him, and a parasite infection is very possible.

Thanks, I am searching now.. Should the expel be so messy?..Here we go with the graphic side...There is a clear fluid which I have to assume he is urinating also. The feces is a bit loose with a soft dark green mass and sometimes white mixed in..I know this probably doesn't help. but should I expect the stool to always be runny or is it possible to OR should it be of other texture.??
Thanks again.

Actually, that sounds pretty normal for iguana poop. There should be LOTS of clear liquid along with the poop (this will be about the consistency of raw egg whites), and the white part should be nice and white and fluffy. There should be no hard chunks of white in his poop, if there are, he needs more water on his food. The dark green part, ideally, should be a fairly firm capsule.

You can also check www.herpvetconnection.comI agree that your diet needs a makeover! The fact that there has been a change in diet and living situation can cause the eliminations to be a bit off. At the very least I would have a fecal check done to eliminate the possibilty of internal parasites.

Ugh...the first cage makes me cringe. I've seen those sold for rabbits and ferrets...and they're not even big enough for them let alone an iguana as big as Stinky... . The new one is going to be awesome. You're doing a fantastic job. I can't wait to see the finished product... ;D.
