I am not sure but I know that the ReptiSun 5 and Iguana Light 5 (same bulb different name) by ZooMed seems to be a very highly recommended flourescent tube light. It is supposed to be one of the most reliable and have a low decay rate (compared to others). When I used fluorescents they were the ones I used. But they are hard to find in most petstores--they seem to carry mostly the Reptiglow brand. I always bought mine online. I currently use the MegaRay mercury vapor bulbs. I am sure some one will give you a more exact answer.

It's really not any better than the 5.0's. As long as you get the Reptisun brands in the flourescents, you can do no better until you get into the Merc vapors. The best one there is what Marie mentioned...the Mega Ray EB from www.reptileuv.com.

One thing to keep in mind is that the flourescent tubes do not send UVB out very far. The ig needs to be within 12 inches of the tubes to be effective.

The best one there is what Marie mentioned...the Mega Ray EB from www.reptileuv.com. I'm eagerly awaiting mine... Flourescent just doesn't provide enough range for my new enclosure. Any ideas on what I should do with a good (a little over a month old, so it has 4-5 good months left in it) ReptiSun 5? I also have a partially melted (The larger spot was from the guy that sold me the big aquarium, who negotiated five more bucks for it along with a couple old UVB tubes) 2 x 4' flourescent lamp 'hood' fixture that I probably won't be using again...if anyone needs it, just ask. I figure I'll actually spend about half as much each year on the Mega Ray EB, since it's less than the cost of 3-to-5 4' flourescents @ $40 a piece (~$160 + tax), provided the EB lasts as long as reptileUV claims. I've always been weary of bulbs that claimed they provide both... For some reason they never seem to provide enough of either. I always run separate light sources that aim for B or A...

If the bulb provides UVB it also provides UVA.
