Guess I will just post this over here too.
My MegaRay EB Flood went out on Saturday (16 April) when I turned the cage off and took Bob outside and has not come back on yet. I contacted reptile UV and they are having me send ti back for repair or replacement. The thing is about 7.5 months old and they guarentee output of the bulb for 12 months and the ballast for 24 months though I don't know which is the faulty part.

Which ever it is I am sure Bob will take care of it and honor the guarantee. I have two setups and it was easy for me to determine that my 2nd ballast was not working. Bob gladly replaced it and everything is great now.

According to Rich on HC there is a relativly high rate of faults in the ballast. I just shipped mine off and did not run any tests of my own on the ballast but I am intersted in what is being done to the 120 Vrms 60 Hz input before it hits the lamp. Though I would not be surprized to hear that that it is transformed to a higher voltage.

I thought I was the only one!! I initially thought the bulb had failed, and sent IT back for replacement. But when the replacement arrived and had lower than norm UVB readings, I figured it out. My ballast was about 6 months old when it failed. Bob replaced it right away. (Mark, I love that quote )

I sent both the bulb and the ballast back. At least of late it has been warm enough to take Bob out daily for a few hours in the lawn but that changed over night.

I'm going through this right now, too. I was supposed to check the ballast last night and forgot. He already has the bulb and said it worked fine.

Hello, On HC, this same thread has been posted. This is my response:
"Hello, I would place my money on the ballast. I have tested several different lights and have found the ballasts to be causing the short. Let me know how it goes."
Now let me clarify this for everyone. I made an order with Reptile UV as Shop HC will be carrying this lighting. Out of the 9 lights I tested, 2 ballasts were found at fault.
ALL of the lights were in perfect working in order, even my 8 month old light that I thought had died.
One of the ballasts was new, and the other is 8 months old.
I speculated that Mars light was good, and it was the ballast that was at fault.
I didn't want anyone to think that there are major defects in the ballasts. Of course, Bob is looking into why the ballasts have had some problems. It will be corrected too as they only want to sell the best.
In my order, I noticed that all the lights I recieved do not look like my old lighting. They have been "improved" I would gather from the new look.
I speculate that we will be seeing the same improvements on the ballasts.
I just wanted to add some clarity to this.
For the record and as a reminder:
"These are the best Reptile UV lamps in the world".
But you don't have to believe me, test them for yourself! I have tested the Mega Ray EB against some of the leading lights on the market. Hands down, the Mega Ray EB had higher readings, over a larger distance. I don't get paid to endorse Mega Ray, and I don't get free items. I endorse it, as does Herp Center, because it IS the superior light.

Thanks. I know that my iguanas perfer it over all the others. When the one ballast was down I put in a PowerSun in the second spot for the meantime and both Baby and Dragon knew. They stuck to the other basking spot. And given that the lights are for them that is the most important endorsement the lights can have for me. I am sure it is just a bug that needs to be worked out. I know Bob has been great about honoring his guarantee.

True...an ig's endorsement is the most important. Audrey actually squeaked at me because she was fighting so hard to stay under her MegaRay. A squeaking iguana?...now that's a good testimonial. ;D

Yes I done the Ballast thing already to but fixed and shipped back to me. Is this ballast the one with the on/off switch on it?
