Hi! I have read on a thread that UVB is blocked by mesh.. I have a screen top on my iguanas enclosure.. is UVB blocked by screen or just mesh?? and I have been using the tube UVB lights since I got my iguana, and was thinking of purchasing the mega ray. Can someone give me a link to the site where I can buy it? Thanks!!!

UVB is blocked by mesh. About 50% of it. I've actually used a meter to measure it! The site I buy my bulbs from is www.reptileuv.com You'll get it in 5 days..awesome company. See ya!

It depends how big the mesh squares are for the screen how "ok" it's going to be. As for the site for the bulbs - www.reptileuv.com/megaray-products.php Which were you planning on purchasing? The self-ballasted (SB) or external ballasted (EB)?

I was thinking of the self-ballasted. I just wasnt sure what watt to buy....
My enclosure is 6' high, 5' across and 4' deep.
Also, what kind of fixture does this take? Can you purchase it on the site or does it come with the bulb?

For the self-ballasted (for any merc vapor - but especially ones that include heat) should have a clamp lamp fixture with a ceramic socket. You can get these in just about any dept. store's lighting department or home improvement center. I thought you had a 40 gal. tank? Or do you have both?
Will your light be housed inside the enclosure - or outside and on top?
Hopefully it will be on top...and in this case I would go for the higher wattage lamp.

Oh I'm sorry! The 40 gallon tank is for my bearded dragon, my iguana's enclose is 6' high 5' across and 4' deep which i'm buying the mega ray for. And yes I wanted it outside the enclosure and on top

D'oh! Don't be sorry! My bad. I just got done answering the beardie lighting question...lol. Yes...then definitely go with the higher wattage. You can also get a MR for the beardie...:-D

Okay. Also, one of my friends uses a Zoo Med Powersun UV Mercury Vapor Lamp, for her iguana. Is this as good as the Mega Ray? Or should I stick with ordering the Mega Ray?

The ZooMed are fairly good lamps, but not as good as the Mega Ray SB. There is one lamp equal to the Mega Ray SB and it's because it's the exact same lamp. T-Rex was given the rights to the design by the guy who designed them. He still retains the rights to the EB, however. The T-Rex 100W Spot lamp is the same light as the Mega Ray SB. The only difference in them is the packaging - and where T-Rex is out to make a profit - BobMac uses his profits to go to his rescue animals...

Cam. - this was a faulty bulb then. Don't base your thoughts on these bulbs from just one bad experience. They are returnable and are so much better than the strip lights. These are all I use for the heavy baskers and have for about 5 yrs. The faulty ones (only 1 actually) was returned and replaced without hesitation.
