We took the babies in for their check ups before winter hit and Baby girl is as healthy as a hoarse. Her scare where she was spayded is healed very well. She weighs 2 3/4 lbs and is 40" long.
Iggy on the other hand is not doing as well as she is. He has lost down to 4 1/2 lbs and we do not know why. He is on the same diet the baby girl is on and has the same lighting. He also eats like a hoarse. Dr Corwin took blood samples and sent them off to the la. He said to take him home an feed him what ever he wanted. Feed he calories. We need to fatten him up he litterally has no fat on him at all. I am so upset. I just can't figure out what we have done wrong!
Dominick, is there such a thing as an Iggy needing junk food high in fat to stay healthy? Is there a chance that Iggy is one of those that as long as he getsthe proper diet of greens he is going to have to have junk food full of calories to stay healthy? Help me I am so scared of loosing my precious big boy. Dr Corwin is to call us tomorrow morning around 9:00 a.m. with the results of the blood work. I just dont understand. They both eat the same diet and she is great and he is not. I have been in tears all afternoon. I just don't know what to do. I feel that we have let him down some how.

Oh Debbie- Don't blame yourself! You do all the right things for your Igs. You just took them to the vet for an annual check-up. Bam-Bam is doing great! So you know what you are doing is right. Iggy has blood work results coming in. Wait for them before you jump to any conclusions. The results will tell you what's wrong. No amount of guessing can do that. Once we know the prognosis, we can work on correcting the ailment. Tesa and I have terrific resources to draw on if needed. Please don't worry. I'm researching "fatty" foods for Igs.... The actual Ig diet, but identifying the foods higher in fat content. I think what the good Doctor meant was constantly offer food to Iggy. Throw out the feeding schedule right now and just offer him any part of his diet he'll eat over and over again throughout the day. Use every fruit and veggie you have available to entice him to "pig out" whenever possible. Whole Wheat bread (4.2%fat), bananas (.5% fat) , blackberries (.4% fat), corn (4.7%) and cooked pasta (1%) are high-fat junk foods and should be used sparingly. Right now I'd offer these foods along with normals to see if you can get him to ingest higher fat amounts temporarily. Be very careful not to spoil him on High-fats and turn his back on healthy foods. Offer both together. Also, temp and UVB absorption are very important now, we need to keep the nutrients going in as well as coming out as efficiently as possible. My other guess is parasitic infestation. Iggy may have worms or some other parasite that is sapping the nutrients from his ingested food. A fecal test is in order for that one. And mind you, it may take more than one fecal test to discover parasites. You hadn't mentioned if you gave a fecal sample for Iggy. But, MOST importantly, relax and try to remain calm. One day won't hurt him. You NEED the answers from the blood work before you can make any drastic changes. Hold him, try to hand feed any of the goodies we listed and give him lots of love. The answer AND solution will be forthcoming. Please, don't cry. It makes me want to cry. He'll be fine, you'll see.

awww Debbie don't feel that way! You are doing everything you know to take care of your babies. You have one healthy.....that's evidence that you are doing the right things!! You took them in for a checkup....have caught the problem.....and will do everything in your power to fix it. Stop beating yourself up. As Dom said.....let's just wait and see what the blood panels tell you. We'll go from there.

Hey all, I got the call from Dr Corwin this morning about Iggy's blood work. His calcium and pho levels were fine. His white blood count and his liver and his kindey couts were very high. So now we have to figure out why. I am so scared for him! Dr Corwin had us bring him in right away and he started him on a high dose of antibiotics and gave him a very large shot of fluids. We have to take him back on Saturday morning for another shot of the fluids and hopefully the antibiotics and the fluids will get him through this, if not Dr Corwin wants to take a bi-opsy of his liver.
He also said to contine to feed him the greens as usual and to feed him pasta as long as he will eat it to get his weight back up. I hope and prey that this works for him. Hugs and weak head bobs from Iggy. I will keep you all posted on how he is doing. Debbie and babies.

Hey all, I'm back again. When I got home from picking up my son from wrestling practice, Iggy had thrown up evrything that he had eaten. It did not even have time to digest. I called Dr Corwin at home and he said not to feed him anything at all just keep plenty of water and heat in his enclosue. Keep the temp at 85 to 95 degrees. He said as long as he gets the antibiotics and the fluids That that is what is the most important. I think that I may end up staying at home from work tomorrow just to be with him. I put another ceramic heat emitter inside his enclosure to assure the temp is good for him. I think that it will be a long night. Debbie and Iggy.
