Well here is one that you won't think about 'til it happens. I was holding Bob a few minutes ago -- standing next to a glass door in the sun and we were watching my Mom work on Christmas dinner #2 -- I was thinking I should have named him Snuggles and moved my right hand up along his tail to pet him.
Well my hand was moving too fast too close to the tail of an 8 year old male and I cut myself on the ridge of sharp scales half way down the tail. The cut is a little more than an inch long, not too deep, and on the muscle pad at the base of my thumb -- it is not excruciating but it hurts more than any clawing I have gotten.
Ouchie!! Mark, that hurts like heck! You are being very brave about it. I've had tail cuts before and I've also gotten tail scrapes when one of the kids decides to sleep in the bed at night. Keep it clean and use some antibiotic ointment. Ewww, I can feel that pain!!
Well my hand has healed fully now. 1" long 1/8" deep healing totally in 5 days, something must have gotten in the cut for it to take that long. Try not to cut yourself this way, it hurts and I don't think Bob liked it either.
Now, if I could just convince the authorities, maybe they'll let me have them back! LOL ;D
When Rex was young he'd tail whip one son or the other in the face. They'd go to school with these marks and cuts on their faces. Apparently the teacher didn't believe the old "The Iguana did it" story. So I got a letter from the teacher asking me to explain.
I responded to the letter, in person with Rex in hand.
She laughed her butt off and FINALLY believed my sons! LMAO
