Melissa, for a long time and for many reasons Willem stopped eating. I tried many things and some worked. most only worked for a day. I thought he was eating on his own so i put a finely shredded salad in his enclosure, and was happy when I noticed some if it was moved around on his plate. But his poops were still so small so......today I mashed up 1/2 a ripe banana (really mashed it up..no lumps) stirred in some vanilla Ensure. I hope you can find this..you might have to ask for it, and then about a tablespoon of strawberry yogurt to get his gut working right. I added some finely chopped greens, but in the beginning I don't think you need to do that. All kinds of nutrition in Ensure and Will's doc said it was fine for him. I expected a struggle, But NO! I droppped the first drop on the top of Willie's nose, it ran down into his mouth . He opened mouth to lick it and it fun all the rest of that way. he must have been really hungry, poor little guy. he kept waiting for more. I was reminded of a calf looking to it's mommy's udder for more milk. I stopped, before he stopped. I was afraid he'd get sick. I'll give him more later this eve. but he loved it and his tummy is rounding out again.
I think Zeke might love this if you start dripping it on his nose and then in his mouth with a straw. it's such a good feeling when you know their tummy's are full.
Good luck little Angel Warrior

Thank you for that advice! I'll definatly try it! Dad and I are going to get groceries soon, and I'm going to try to get Zeke alot of goodies! I'm so happy tho! An update on Zeke; he's looking ALOT better lately! He's eating more, and his color is back to a light green, and not yellow! I'm starting to believe I can really help him and bring him back to his healthy self! And I gave him a bath today.. Just a quick one.. He enjoyed it but I think he was a little scared.. I kept my hand by him so he could climb up onto it if he was scared, and he did.. But it was his third time, and it seems like he likes it! -Melissa&Zeke-

It sounds like Zeke might just turn around...but he will still need aggressive treatment with whatever you can give him. We are ALL rooting for you and Zeke!
Make sure he gets some fluids, too. He needs hydration as badly as he needs food. This will help his kidneys/liver process and remove the toxins better from his system among other things.
You're doing an awesome job, Melissa!

hehe Yay!
nope, thats not a recent picture, but thats what he looks like! His color isn't such a vibrant green but its REALLY close to that color!
I've been misting him almost three times or more a day, and I change his water alot..
Dad's going to go get groceries tonight, and I made a list of things I want to get; Collard greens, green beans, banannas, strawberry yogurt, and parsley, if its there..
I'm so happy! Zeke really is doing better.. I just have to see if my sister is still getting that light.. I'll update you on that..
I just had a question on heat rocks.. I've heard that they can cause severe burns, and aren't good for your iguana? Zeke seems to be doing fine on his rock... He loves it.. He spends quite a bit of time on it.. Should I remove it ? Or keep it there for him to lie on?

Melissa, you can keep his rock for him to lie on...just make sure you unplug it, and cut off its cord first. ;D They CAN cause severe burns to your iguana.
I hope your dad will buy some of the foods that Zeke needs. Zeke must really feel that he has a reason to live, iguanas in the condition you wrote about a week ago have usually gone down-hill quickly and died. I know that he must feel your love for him, you give him hope and the will to live. Just keep it up, when Zeke grows up, he'll remember everything you did for him and he'll be a wonderful companion for you. How big did you say his enclosure is? The reason I ask is so we can find the best method to keep him nice and warm without using one of those evil hot rocks.

Do not use bananas right now Melissa. They are a treat...and not even a very good one. They are too high in phosporous. He needs only things that can help him right now.
*Collard greens *mustard greens *turnip greens arugula amaranth watercress cilantro pumpkin
The ones with an (*) are ones that are fairly common in stores and should be the main part of his salad always. Anything else listed is an addition and can be swapped out for variety (though the aragula is even better than turnip and mustard greens...it is harder to find).
With the pumpkin, get one of those tiny decorative ones. Cut off the stem, cut it in half, clean out the seeds. Shred it on a cheese grater very fine, peel and all, and add it to the finely chopped salad you will be feeding him.
This list of foods is only a basic starter list. Stay away from fruit for now until Zeke starts getting better. With the pupmkin, I list it now because igs seem to LOVE pumpkin. All the ones I have had did and Zair does. You can also use butternut squash or acorn squash.

Well Dad got groceries yesterday.. He got some parsley and more green beans.. And some apples..
He forgot the list at home, so I'm going to see if my sister will take me out so I can get some collard greens, and some squash.. And maybe some turnip or mustard greens too..
I chopped up some parsley and green beans and apples today for Zeke and he loves it!
He's doing MUCH better.. He seems alot happier!
I think my dad is starting to realize what that ig really means to me.. The first thing I do when I wake up is get food for Zeke.. And dad is starting to notice how much effort I put into keeping that ig alive.. I just hope he starts to help me..
