Yea they cut out a area for her to poopie. she is doing fine. she has antibiotics and pain meds. she isnt too happy not having her climbing stuff but i cant put in until the splint is gone. the vet wanted to make sure it was well protected guess she (vet) got the job done. draco is eating and drinking but not as much as she usually does. but i figured the meds have her appetite down some. well its gonna be a long 6-8 weeks with that on but hopefully things will go as good as they are now. i will keep you all updated on her. thanks for all your support and kind words during this hard time.

Poor Girl. I remember when Rex had his hind foot bandaged due to an broken long toe. He spent more time trying to shake the thing off than he did actually healing. LOL Take care of your little girl and help heal her with love. Regards, Dominick

OMGosh..that splint is huge! Is the blue a small towel you laid over her splint or is it part of the splint itself? You and she are real troopers. Good Luck!

OMG that splint is HUGE! I bet Draco hates it! Now if we could just figure out how to get all of the rest of our iguanas together to sign the cast!

lol merlin. the blue is part of the splint. the vet just made sure she couldnt hurt it while it heals. from the side it looks like she has a diaper on,until u see the leg part that is. she isnt eating real good but does nibble some of her food. she squirms quite a bit when i have to give her meds and that scares me but i can usually get her to settle down and take it. one has a real bad taste(according to vet) and the other has a bit of honey added for a better taste. of course the bad tasting is the one she has a bigger dose of. cant wait to get that stupid splint off of her. well thats all for now. oh i am thrilled that she got a clean bill of health other than leg. vet said she is really healthy and sweet. ;D

I've not seen a cast stuck straight out like that much. Usually it's been splinted to the tail. Much easier for the ig to still move around. Just a hint while she's healing. Keep the temps 5 degrees warmer across the board. This will raise her metabolism and aid in a speedier recovery... ;D
And don't sweat the accident. I've done things too...but I've learned from them. We all do.

Hi Veronica was just nosing at your pics. Love the birds. Do u do rescue or just a BIG animal lover like me? When Draco was in the vets office the first thing i thought is that they would splint her leg to the tail ,then the vet told me it would be straight out. but my baby girl is doing so good. she is pretty active during the day. i give her the meds in the evening cause thats when the vet gave them to her and i didnt want to get the meds too close. plus helps her sleep thru the night. well i just wondered if u do rescue cause of all the diff animals that was on your site.

Both!! ;D I LOVE animals. Was raised with the ideals that animals are not just expendable animals to be replaced if they die. Our first pet was a boa constrictor when I was 3. A caimen soon after. Nana was into the Save the Whales and Save the Wolves projects (and was a naturalist at heart). In her will she asked for her ashes to be put out to sea with the whales she loved so much...which is where she is now... . Dad was an avid bird watcher and ameteur photographer of them. His ashes are somewhere in Yosemite National Park. Mom starting to volunteer as a rehabber just before she started nursing school. She had to give up rehabbing just before we were to get a fawn. She only has a beta now, but the combo of all of them had a huge influence on me. Growing up we had such a variety of animals. Then getting out on my own after getting married...we only had the cats and dogs...couldn't afford much more. Slowly things improved and we were able to care for more, but rarely purchased anything. People knew I loved animals and I knew more than the average person. My landlord in CA had me get loose iguana, brought me a lost ferret (illegal in CA), and had me get a snake off of his porch...lol. It was just a California king. When we moved to TN it became no different. Word got out. Especially once I became a member of our local humane society. The only animals in my house (right now) that I have paid for is Zair...my iguana. He was a gift to my oldest who was 14 then. That was nearly 7 yrs ago now. Our home has grown to house 24 animals as of now. 8 of those are fosters. During warmer months I get in the occassional opossum litter to rehab. It is incredibly rewarding to be able to make a difference in an animals life. To watch them come from something bad and, over time, watch them begin to shine. Wow...that was longer than I had intended it to be. Once I get started these things take on a life of their own...lol. And I cut it short... . Anyway...thanks for looking at the pics. And I think Draco is in very good hands with you...

Hi Veronica, Thanks so much for sharing that wonderful story. I dont care how long a story is when it comes to animals. My dream is to move to the country with some acreage and take in unwanted pets. Right now I have 9 cats,1 dog,1 iguana and a little gecko. They are a real joy. My hubby and I really love our animals. I have been an animal lover for as long as i can remember and it is nice to talk to others that feel the same. Well please feel free to talk to me about any animals you have or may get. I would love to hear about them. Thanks bunches!!! ;D
