it happened, when i took my ig Liz in she was plumpy, the previous owner said that she was 1 1/2 years old and NEVER layed yet... then only a week ago she did just that so I was the first to experience her do that. afterlaying around almost 2 dozen eggs (unfertile) she looked as if shes skin and bones... well now she' regaining her "body flabs" though what concerns me really is her body color... see when i first bought her in she's kind of a dark green skinned then eventually it lightened up, now after she's layed her eggs, she's a bit yellowy green though she EATS a lot practically EVERYTHING i give her plus MORE. Everyday i give her the time to BASK under real sunlight... ive bought a book which discribes iguana color and stated yellowy is a bad sign? am not sure, i dont want to lose her because having an iguana is my childhood dream come true. another problem is that there's not much of a herp vet here in the philippines...

Hi Aya99!! ;D
Congrats on your girl's first clutch of eggs. The yellowy color you describe sounds like a possible inflammation of her liver. Please list everything that you have been feeding her.
Thanks, and welcome to IZ. ;D

Hi Aya We really can't make a proper diagnosis here. We can only give suggestions and opinions based on past experiences. I'm sorry we can't be more help. Having said that: As IK said, it sounds as though there could be some liver problem. Sometimes, it can be induced simply by being gravid. (with eggs) Please do list the foods you are giving her, make sure she is getting lots of fluid, and check to see that her temperatures are high enough. Hopefully she will return to normal very soon. Welcome to IZ.

LOTS of fluids! Take her to the vet ASAP. She really needs one right now. The yellow is definitely a red flag.
Boost her calcium intake with higher calcium foods such as collard greens and add a little calcium carbonate (powder) to her food. Just a very light dusting will do.

Sean and V- Ian is in the Philippines. I have talked with him on HC and he listed what is available there in the way of veggies and greens but some of them I don't recognize. Hopefully someone here will know what they are.

Hmmm...pulling a 12 today so I won't be able to check on the names until possibly tomorrow afternoon. I have a translator website I go to in my favorites at home. Maybe I'll have some luck with it.

Aya, Please go to the following link and look at these items. All of them will be good for Liz. She needs more leafy greens! Since she needs extra water right now, watermelon would be a good choice for fruit. watercress (good calcium) mustard green coriander chinese cabbage papaya www.nre.vic.gov.au/trade/asiaveg/thes-00.htmGood Foods: Chicharo (we call them snow peas or sugar peas) Kangkong (we call it swamp cabbage) Langka (jackfruit) Sigarilyas (winged bean) good calcium!! okra NOT so good: broccoli carrot cauliflower eggplant banana durian

thanks so much guys for the help, recently ive been contacting several vets and found some who could check LIZ up... theyre not herp specialists but hey, they're better than none at all, and about her yellowy color, ive started giving her some calcium carbonate supplements and she starting to become light green again, the yellowy thing starts to go off, but still shes scheduled for a checkup most probably on monday since people here are still on a holiday:)
