Wow! That enclosure looks nice. I'm going to be building one out of pvc for outdoor use very soon.
One question: You have all those artificial leaves and flowers hanging in there. Aren't you afraid that your ig will try to eat some of them. If they do eat an artificial leaf, will that cause an impaction or would it pass on its own. I'm only asking this because I have a few leaves in Einstein's cage and he's not been eating or pooping much the last few weeks and I'm wondering if maybe he ate one of the fake leaves. I have found a few laying loose on the floor so that's what is making me wonder.

Thanks, I'm going to be building some more outside cages too and to answer your question, yes sometimes they might eat a fake leaf. I've never had that problem I've never seen mine try and eat them....but if you feel he might have you can give him some mineral oil, it's not going to hurt him, it will just help pass it through if he did eat one........

I started giving him a little bit of mineral oil yesterday and today...just a few drops so far have gotten into him. He's looking alert and all but he's just not eating and pooping a lot.

Please be careful with the mineral oil. If the leaf is too large and is being forced out, this could cause some internal damage. I have fake plants in Zair's cage too...along with the plated lizard, chameleons, and crested gecko. No one has ever tried to eat the fake, but I also have live in the chams cages. They know the difference. The "safe live" plants show signs of snacking while the fake most definitely do not... .

I've had the same experience with George and his fake plants. When we put new ones in he's curious and go over to check it out but hes never eaten any.

Thanks for the replys to my question about the fake leaves. I'm probably just being overly paranoid -- this decrease in eating/pooping phase is getting to me. He used to eat so much and poop every morning like clockwork ... now it's hit and miss with both. He's still going to the vet -- he's overdue for a check up anyway.

I'd have to say I been lucky with mine, they have never eaten a fake plant, they go over and taste it but thats as far as it goes...

Well just a little up date...NO eggs yet I think she is reabsorbing them, her belly isn't any bigger, she's back to eating, not a whole lot but she is eating.......
I found out she was gravid with eggs Jan 31st....Do you think it's been too long for her to lay them? She doesn't even go in her lay box anymore, but I still have it in there..I'm going to keep it in there till I have an xray done to make sure she has no eggs.......How much longer should I wait to have an xray done?
Thanks Again.................... Annie

OOPS I forgot one of my words...I have a bad habit of thinking the words but I forget to type them...grrrrrr
I meant to say She's driving me crazy for sure.....
Well she finally went to bed......She wants out of her enclosure so bad but I'm afraid to let her out in fear she might go somewhere where I can't find her....I've never seen her dig as much as she did today..(well yesterday) Well I'll see what today brings....
Oh does anyone know how long it takes them to lay their eggs once they start?

Oh does anyone know how long it takes them to lay their eggs once they start? That varies from ig to ig...but it "shouldn't" take more than 24-48 to lay them all. If it takes longer than something isn't quite right.
