Ideally taller would be better than longer. Igs like height! What are the dimensions of your planned enclosure?

Ideally it should be 6'T x 6'W x 3'D. That is for a full grown ig...which yours will be one day...

we bought our iguana about 6 months ago he weighs seven ounces and is a little over a foot long he lives in a 20 gal aquarium, the pet store said that would be fine for a year or two. all the cages I see here are much bigger, are they lying to me? Does George feel cramped?

Oh Missy...YES! They lied to you very badly. This size tank is much to small for even a baby. A healthy ig will outgrow a 55 gallon within a year.

Please don't rely on ANY information the pet store gave you! They notoriously give out the absolute WORST information!! In fact, following the pet stores advice is a sure way to kill an iguana Sad but true. But don't feel bad! I fell for the same thing at first (as do a LOT of other people!) - I figured they knew what they were talking about - but I also bought the Iguana's For Dummies book by Melissa Kaplan, and quickly discovered the pet store was "dead" wrong. There is a wealth of information on this website, and a lot of really great people who are also a wealth of information - read, read, read, and ask, ask, ask! We're all here to help each other Welcome to the group! ~Nan

That looks like the bottom half of the enclosure I built for puppy. Mine is 6'h x 4'w x 2 1/2"d. But the further up Puppy can go the happier he is. Check out the pics on this link pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sillywoman1969/album?.dir=/68f2 If he could go higher he would. I personally think he just wants to look down on me, LOL
