I was out shopping today and went into a Salvation Army store. They had a HUGE freestanding closet type thing. It is about 7' tall and quite wide and deep. They wanted $39.00 for it, but when I told the lady what I wanted it for, and could I get any kind of a discount, she gave me the senior citizen discount -LOL- I got it for $33.00! ;D We are planning on laying it on one side, removing the solid doors, and replacing them with 2 Plexiglass panels on tracks - kind of like the way that shower doors work. I know that tall is best, but I think this will work to give him more room to move around on the bottom, a deluxe basking shelf, and still plenty of room for at least one more level in between. My husband is going to put legs on it to raise it up off of the floor, so he at least has the illusion of being up high. This should hold him quite nicely until we get back on our feet financially and can build something bigger. We'll be working on it this weekend, and I'll post some pics when it's done. ;D

Wow! Sounds like you struck gold!! I would however suggest you re-think standing it up. It will last Drako alot longer that way. Chances are he won't spend much time on that floor space and it will just be wasted. He could get alot more climbing excerise that way too!
Either way.... Good deal for ya! ;D

I can't get anybody to haul it for me until tomorrow. He also has his giant outdoor cage that he gets to be in every day with LOTS of room for climbing. In this climate, he should be able to go outside daily at least through October, if not longer.

Just an update on Drako's new house. When Rick got it home, he decided it wasn't "good enough". Now mind you, this is the guy that says... "It's just a lizzard" So he proceeded to go out and buy the biggest Viv we could find anywhere in Fresno!! It was at a local petshop called White's Pets. I was really impressed with their reptile department. The baby Igs had UVB and heat lights properly positioned, and some good looking salad in their bowl. The babies were very active and healthy looking ;D This is the only petshop in this area that I have seen the baby Igs being cared for properly! Anyway, back to the viv - It is 2'w x 2'd x 4'h. I know it won't last him forever, but it's a lot bigger than he has now. About 1/3 of the front is a screen access panel, and 2 screen panels on the top. The rest is glass. Now, I just have to get the furnishings in so that Drako can move into his new townhouse ;D

Update on Drako's new "townhouse". He really likes it ;D ;D Just to remind everyone, he also has his giant outside cage that he gets to spend a lot of time in everyday - when the weather is too hot, like this past week (102 - 106 every day!) - I take him out at about 7:00 am and let him spend a few hours until it's too warm . Next phase of the project is to Ig proof my computer room, move his new house in there, and let him have plenty of time free roaming in that room with the door open to his house so he can come and go to it as he pleases ;D LOL - He was shedding on his belly, it was really funny to watch him rub the shed off using the astroturf - kind of like we use a door frame to scratch our back ;D ;D

That looks great Carmen! Is that a Wandering Jew I see inside? I love those! Thrasher kills every plant I put in her house because she insists on playing Tarzan.

The foliage inside is fake - in the tank he was in, I created his hide box with his basking log mounted to the top of it then put the fake plants around it to cover the outside of the "box". I moved it to his new home so he would have something familiar. Here's a pic of it when Drako was a lot smaller - you can see the mesh of the hide box in the lower left.
