I tried to find a way to thumbnail these off of my own server, but there didn't seem to be a way to code the message for thumbnail links. My apologies for browser overload.
This is the outdoor cage we built; the cage which was broken into and from which Mary was stolen (for those of you just tuning in, we got Mary back). We have since repaired the damage done to the cage, and now that it is warming up around here we are testing the iggies in it.
So far, Xander loves the cage and has not found any flaws in our design that he can squeeze through.
Bailey is in the cage today, and he is full of piss and vinegar and breeding season vigor. He's definitely testing the tear-factor of the mesh. So far, it's holding up.
We haven't put Mary in the cage since we got her back from her kidnapping. Personal and projected trauma, etc. Plus, she is going to lay her eggs any day now so we have her in a special cage with a nesting box.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the cage pix. We are going to build another one someday soon, but it will be portable, not affixed to the building as this one is.
Other cage builders may note the unusual fittings in the corners. We had been planning on building this cage for months and months, last summer. However, *none* of the local hardware stores carried the necessary parts. We got tired of waiting for the stores to get the parts in and decided to tweak the measurements just a wee bit and use two fittings to create the one we couldn't find.
Even though the cage is outdoors, it's in the shade quite a bit, so we just bought a MegaRay to put inside (and another one for the house).
Fear not, the bulb and socket are not live when the iggies are in the cage. And the base of that table weighs more than I do, so they can't knock it over.
Of course, since he *knows* he's the center of the universe, Milo, our cat, was certain that the cage was being built for *him*. The first week we had Mary in the cage, Milo insisted on being there too.
Thanks for letting me share!
