So I was having to mist my Ig's enclosure every couple hours to keep the humidity level high enough. I have added another water dish to the cage which has fixed the problem. But my Ig sits is the water for long periods of time now. Is there any way that this could cause a problem?

As long as his water is clean, it shouldn't be a problem.

You also might check your temperatures. It may be on the warm side and the ig is trying to keep cooled off

Where exactly in the enclosure is the water placed?

I have water dish with a dripper in the cool side and one in the warm end. I just added the new water dish in the warm end.

Some igs just love their water. I know a rehabber whose own iguana stayed in her dish so much she set up a basking station there - complete with UVB. I wouldn't worry about it right now unless his time under the UVB is compromised...:-)
