When I 1st got Jolee I was worried about cleaning his cage (mainly the wood branches and such) with a regular sponge. So I got the idea to use those rubber jar openers to scrub all his things including his water bowl and wooden hut . This way you dont have to worry about micro fibers wrapping around a toe or the spong not being clean . The rubber pad is very easy to keep clean and srubs without leaving any fibers behind.

Another thing that works really well is called the scunci steamer. Its like $50 from the manufactures websites but it works wonders. Otherwise you can find it on ebay pretty cheap. You can just spray anything in the cage including glass and plexiglass, branches, blankets pretty much anything. Its super safe bacause it uses just regular water so there isnt any chemicals or anything. Another nice thing is that you can use it around the house for cleaning anything. Even works wonderful on the car engine .

Eventually your will find that branches and shelves need little cleaning and you will start to tend away from using natural branches. An adult ig needs large climbing stuff and branches just get too cumbersome and heavy. Not rally a strength issue as 1.5 inch maple branch can hold about 10 medium large igs but one of sheer size of the body and the ig not being able to grip the branch. I think that I was able to use a branch in Bob's cage for about 2 years.
I think of igs as pretty clean animals. Bob tub / outside trained himself and all I have to do to clean the climbing toys is brush off shed and a few random leaves. As your ig gets older cleaning the cage gets faster and easier.
