What are the thoughts on whether igs ever stop growing? Bob is putting on serious chunkage, well at least he is getting too big to just sit on my shoulder. He is now nine years old will he stop? I have read everywhere that you can't overfeed an ig -- with proper diet -- but can he get too fat?

Nope, not likely at all. Different igs are just genetically predisposed to have larger bodies or smaller bodies. My 8 year-old male ig, Hercules, is about 68" STL but only weighs about 14 pounds...heh, he's kind of like a tall, skinny guy, just like his dad...me . I do volunteer work with a couple of 10-year-old igs that are nearly 8" shorter than Hercules, STL, but one of them weighs about 25 pounds. He's far from fat too, he's just a shorter, stockier guy. I can't really carry Hercules on my shoulder anymore because of his size, but he likes to cling to my chest and put his head under my chin. I just have to be really careful not to step on the almost 12 inches of his tail that drags on the floor when I carry him like this. I haven't met an ig yet (almost 90 of 'em so far) that I would consider to be too fat, they just have different body types. Their bodies are as different as their individual personalities so I wouldn't be too concerned, you really can't overfeed an ig.

I agree with Ig-King. At 7 years they generally stop growing in length...then the bulk comes on and depending on the igs genetic makeup and proper care can add up to A LOT of bulk... ;D.

Could you post a picture of that ig, if you have one? I thoght igs only reached 15 pounds. Our Iggi is about 9 pounds, and she's less than 4 years old. I'll be a hunchback if she get's to 25 pounds! LOL

Man, Bob is nine years old 8 pounds and roughly 50 inches STL and 15 inches SVL. I can't put my hand all the way around the base of his tail and can only just get both hands all the way around the middle of his body. If he puts on a few more pounds I will have a real hard time controlling him at times as I won't be able to have much of a hand around him.
Today he stayed nicely on my shoulder, even scrambling up to it from my arm. I guess that I was just exhausted yesterday after the finish of another 6 day work week. I could go back to wearing a hoodie when walking with him but I can't afford to loose that much weight. Hard even to think of walking around outside in low to mid 80s wearing a hoodie and ig.

Yup, its pretty rare, we have 1 out-of 85 that is this unbelievably huge (had 1 even bigger before, but he was recently adopted), the other current 10-year-old orphan would be this heavy too if not for his tail loss...same body type. IgDaddy, unfortunately the only pics I could find of him were 4 or 5 years old (didn't take any of my own at the last open house...too busy deflecting dangerous color responses to what some of our vistors were wearing by some of our smaller igs ), and he's pretty "tiny" in them compared to the way he is now. Sean Thanks for looking. I was just wondering what Iggi will look like at 10-12 years old. I'm not sure my wife will be able to hold her, but I know she will surely try.
