This is Squiggy (female) she about 14 months and 9 1/2" SVL- 29"STL. I got her in Jan 2007. She is a sweetheart outside her cage but you get anyone around her house when she is in there, she'll tear your head off. But I love her to death...... This is her in her outside cage this summer This is her today, my little fat girl, she's shedding right now and looks a little dull. This is Lenny (male) 8 1/4" SVL- 23" STL he's about 12 months. I got him in Jan 2007. Well Lenny is alittle bit of a problem child but he's coming along tho, he was abused he had wounds and bite marks all over him and has a bad burn probably from a hot rock on his tail that I'm still battling to get healed. He is a tad aggressive at time but he is to the point now I don't have to wear glove to handle him, I just have to watch myself around his head, he doesn't like his head messed with too much, but he is getting better. This summer in the outside cage This is today And then theres Squirt, OH my little Squirt he was a recuse from the pet store on Valentines Day Feb, 2007. I went into the store to buy a new UVB light and my youngest daughter saw these two little I mean little baby iggys in this tank one was almost dead and the other was in pretty bad shape too, skinny, mouth gapping, dehydrated, brown in color, well on deaths door. So my friend that works there just gave him to me. So I felt so sorry for him and it being Valentines day I took him home. He was so young I'm going to guess about maybe a week or two old, his little belly was still open from where the yoke sack was.. It was touch and go for awhile, but with all the force feeding, slurries, vitamins and endless baths he made it. He's doing great now finally growing, eats like a pig. But no matter how big he gets, he will always be my little "Squirt".... When I got him he was 3"SVL-11"STL and now he is 5"SVL-16"STL. He had a very hard day outside and came in and crashed out Here he is today, my little neon green glow in the dark iggy Ok here's Squirt(iggy) and Junie(WD) and yes I'm raising my WD's and my iggy Squirt together. These two have become best buddies, they hate to be apart, they have a fit when they are not together.....But I know the day will come when I will have to separate them b/c they're both males. Here's Squirt (iggy) Elmo, she my newest baby WD and Junie (WD) Well thats my crew, well for the lizards that is....Hope you like...

Wow...quite a crew. You have done some really good work on these guys!
Do you feed the WD outside the cage then? How can you tell Squirt is female. She's still awfully young? Do you have separate basking areas for each lizard (a must in multiple lizard housing)? When did you plan on separating them? When they start showing aggression?
The care requirements for ig and WD are slightly different...enough so they should not be mixed in the same housing. Mixing species is never a good idea. During supervised sessions is one thing, but living conditions is quite a bit different. I'm not going to say to never put them together. They can co-exist on a limited level...just housing should be done separately...;-)
Squiggy dull!? I don't see it! She must be extraordinary when not shedding! I love those kind of markings on an ig.
Really REALLY nice looking lizard family. I love the WDs. They are SO much more personable than igs...:-) Thank you for sharing these pics!

wow...soooo many iggies...they all look really cute. Hopefully you'll have them separated by time they start getting big enough to hurt each other. Something to think about for the future. But they look great now, good job so far!

Not all of those are igs. Two of the bottom cuties are Chinese water dragons...;-)

Nice group, they've come a long way from the pics you posted. Especially Little lenny, he's adorable (I think he's my fave) but I adore the other two as well....Very cute. I'm with prism on the seperating of the ig &WD's as well as their requirements are different so are their feeding requirements. Eating bugs is never good for an iguana. If you can, maybe get them seperate enclosures that sit side by side so they can still see eachother. Just an idea. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Well Thanks guys & gals don't want to leave anyone out..hehe Well let me tell you the story about Junie my water dragon....I'd been doing a lot of research on WD's I'm a member of Reptic Zone and I was asking the people on the WD forum for some info on WD's. ( wonderful website and wonderful people) So I did a lot of reading at the web site they gave me, well to make a long story short, I was at the pet store to get a uvb light and I saw this poor little WD in this tank he looked soooo sad, No water no uvb , just a red heat lamp on him, so I ask to hold him and he just buried his little body in my hand, well come to find out they had this poor little thing in with the tortoises and they were biting his little toes off... and he had a bad case of nose rub... I felt so sorry for him I bought him.. at least I knew a little about wd's from the research I did. I had a fecal done on him and it was ok....Well I will have to admit I really didn't have any place to put him so I put him in w/ Squirt (my baby iggy) they were almost the same size.......They got along great, these two have gotten so attached to each other they have a fit when they are not together...... I started off hand feeding Junie b/c I didn't want Squirt to eat the crx (crickets) I know bugs are very bad for iggys. Well Squirt got jealous and wanted me to hand feed him too, so here I'm hand feeding these two guys, I said to myself this has got to stop.......So I put Squirts veggie in his dish and Junie's crx in his dish and put them in their viv. I watched Squirt real close and he went over to Junie dish and looked in side and saw the crx, he put his nose in his dish and licked one of the crx and had the funniest look on his face and he looked up at me like "What the heck is in this dish".... and then he walked over to his dish and started eating... He has never attempted to eat the bugs at all....But now Squirt won't eat until I put my finger in his dish and make his veggies move, I guess he thinks Junie's food moves so should his. I tell you it is so funny with these guys.... Now far as separating these two I tried it and it didn't work, they got so depressed stopped eating, wouldn't bask, stayed on the floor in their viv's and got cold, turned God awful colors... this lasted for about 4 days. So I put them back together and they are great, these two are best buds. I just got a new baby wd from one of the member at Reptic Zone and they are fine with her, she's one of the guys.... Here are some pic of Junie when I got him: Here's Junie playing air plane Here they are basking and yes I have three basking spots in their new viv I just built, but they are alway together Notice on Junie little paw he's got three toes missing Here they are sleeping together as always Here's the three of them sleeping in the pillow sleeping bags I made them, they get in there every night, I don't have to put them in there. They get in there on their own, my iggys do the same thing..They stay nice and warm under the heat lamp at night... Here they are eating together in the old viv Here's Junie kickn back on the bridge I made for their new viv Oh here's another pic of Squiggy my female before she started her shed I know some of my animals names don't fit them well we thought Junie was a girl but he turn out to be a male so I just kept his name Junie and Elmo, the person I got her from named her that, I just kept her name too.. But I do have a question about iggys I have heard yes and no about this and I'm just not sure..Can iggys become fat and over weight, I have always heard no but my Squiggy is getting so fat I know she's not gravid she to young yet but she is getting a belly on her, I'm wondering if I should cut back on her feed, gosh I sound like I'm talking about horses....feed I meant food... I have horses on the brain 24/7, Horses are my life that what I do. I train horses and give riding lesson I guess you might say I'm just a good old country girl.... ok enough rambling. But what do you guys think about Squiggy getting fat?

Hi pocochu! Welcome to IZ from me! ;D
Excellent pics! To answer your last question: No, a green iguana cannot be overweight. They are not prone to overeating and generally get enough exercise to keep their excess weight down. If Squiggy is getting fat...does she poop regularly?

I second that...you cannot overfeed and ig. If you have already had Squiggy cleared for worms...then this is just plain baby belly. Often they will bloat like that when it's time to poop...they let it go...and they thin down again. Sometimes they just stay pudgy. As long as Squiggy is pooping well...don't worry about it. As for the ig and WDs...I certainly don't condone this on a regular basis and it's sure not a combination everyone should do. I a strong urger on keeping species separated...BUT...you seem to have a handle on this. You watch them at feeding time...you've tried separation...and they seem to be doing fine. You're already aware things may change drastically as they mature...so...we'll just wait and see what happens. They are fantastic pictures. Have you ever seen Henry Lizardlover's pictures? He uses solely igs and WD in his work. I don't know if he houses them together, but he does make some pretty cool pictures. www.todaysplanet.com/pg/beta/lizardlover/www.youtube.com/watch?v=71QbigcBFTs <---a slideshow using Henry's lizards, but the dialog is a foreign language.

Thanks again, I do keep a REALLY close eye on them especially b/c they are both males, but so far soo good....I do have another enclosure that I built, so if I do need to separate them I can...I always like to be prepared..... In regards to Squiggy yes she poos regularly and yes she was tested....She's a very good eater, picky but good. All of my iggy's are picky when it comes to food. I have them on the MK salad but I do my own version of it.They don't like fruit so I make it w/out fruit. Here's a link on how I make my salad www.repticzone.com/forums/Iguanas/messages/1367544.htmlI tried to make it with butternut squash one time to give them a variety and would you believe the little stinkers wouldn't touch it so I went back to the acorn squash, I guess they just like the same old thing.....and turnip greens and mustard greens are a no no they wouldn't even look at them, they love their collard greens..... I guess I have weird iggys, well all my animals are strange. I have a cat that LOVES to be spanked, the harder you spank her the more she like it...LOL Speaking of my sleeping bag pillows I made them here are some pic of them Here is Lenny poking his head out to say good morning Here's Squiggy, she's still sleeping Here's Squirt poking his head out to find out what going on Here's poor Squiggy trying to fit in her bed, I think it's time to make a bigger bed....LOL I've seen Henry Lizardlover website really neat. Speaking of Henry and lizards I have a link to a video that one of the members at Reptic Zone posted about him and alls kinds of lizards. Great movie to watch, But the only thing is the website is in the UK and one of the advertisement has a bunch of girls showing their bare butts and I wasn't to sure about posting the link b/c I know there are young kids that come to this site.....It's not porn or anything but they are in riskay(sp) underware and everyting is all covered up top and bottom....theres really no nudity just bare butts...So tell me what you think....It is a good video......

Thanks for keeping the kids in mind. Send me a PM with the link and I'll take a look...:-) Spell check = risqué :-D
The trick to picky iggy's...make the food small enough so they can't be choosy. They will eat...even if not the first day. They really could benefit from the nutrients that come from the variety. MK does use supplements in her food, so there is some added benefits there. Another addition you can use to help is moistened Rep-Cal iguana pellets. It's a great addition and adds the almighty water source to the repertoire.

LOL! Great pics, Pocochu! If the pooping is normal then its probably just "baby belly" as V put it. Its ironic that you have this concern though, because my sweety, Audrey, is VERY gravid. For her first time since 2004, my (approximately) 9-year-old sweety is gravid! ;D She's a BIG girl, but has always reabsorbed her eggs until this year. Squiggy is very close to the right SVL for being gravid, but its most-likely just the female ig belly. Female igs don't read all of the silly celeb magazines...these girls actually eat...and actually eat MUCH more than the males. Its perfectly normal for your female iggy to be a little "heavier-bodied" than your males.

Thanks for all the info on Squiggy, I will have to admit I've never had a female before so this is all new to me... You will probably being hearing from me alot when she is gravid...I know I'm gonna need all the help I can get.... I forgot to mention that I do add vitamin & calcium to their diet... Well my horse show didn't go as planed, my stupid, dippy, ding dong horse kicked the pipe fence on Friday.... and could barley walk on her leg....I was so mad, she's got PMS 24/7...Mares and so moody, just like us women I guess...LOL
