So all of the books that I have read as well as all of the information on these forums talk plenty about the average adult size of the green iguana.
I am wondering what type of SVL and TL's iguanas at the top end of the size and weight range can achieve.
I have heard of iguana's getting up to 6.5 feet long and to 20 pounds in weight, but all of these claims are unsubstantiated.
Anyone have any concrete measurements and or photos of abnormally large iguanas?
Thanks

Here's a link to an article which shows Cuervo on AEs shoulder. extras.denverpost.com/life/reptiles0327.htmHe was even bigger when I met him during one of my infrequent volunteer stints at Colorado Reptile Humane Society. He was HUGE, but very gentle the times I interacted with him. Heh...we used to tease him about the size of his dewlap, saying we could make a coin purse out of it. We'd fold it up, and he'd just give us a look like "Ha ha, very funny. Ya think that's the first time I've heard that one?" The guy was a sweety though. He was adopted by a good family about 3 years ago. IIRC, he was well over 20 pounds, I'm thinking it was around 25 pounds.

My last Iggy was 5'4" I know this because its exactly my hieght! I don't know how heavy he was. When he died I thought maybe I'd killed him because his favorite treat was pork sausages and I used to give him them . I rang London Zoo seeking reasurance and when I told them his size they said he almost certainly died of old age!

When he died I thought maybe I'd killed him because his favorite treat was pork sausages and I used to give him them . Pork saisage? Then it was quite a reasonable assumption. To put it quite plainly,...Bull! You cannot say an iguana died of old age just because of size! And a diet heavy in animal protien will cause them to grow faster! As well as die sooner!
