jfogle78, Fortunately, house flies do not have teeth. The regular garden variety house fly eats by regurgitating on its food to digest it. Then just vacuums up the resulting mess. They would more likely go after his food. Disgusting, but nature is a wonderful and varied thing.

It depends on the exact species of fly you are dealing with. Some are harmless but there are biting varieties!

So Merlin then it could be possible that these flies were chewing on Angus spikes? We killed them. But I noticed it seemed like something was chewing his spikes.

They don't really "chew: but they will bite and then consume the blood. I know they do this with warm blooded animals but I don't know about reptiles. Having scales I would think would make it much more difficult! Spike damage is usual a result of humidity problems.

Humidity issues are the biggest issue with spike sheds. Sometimes the tips get stuck in the sheath and get pulled off when the spike is rubbed off.

Maybe he rubbed them on something, the marks are at the base of the spikes. They arent bad but I just wanted to ask. He shouldnt have any shed issues due to humidity or hydration. We run a humidifer several hours a day in his cage, mist his food and mist him since he hates the tub we do bath him a couple times a month anyway
