So, while I love spike to death (hopefully not literally) he is for the most part, at least with my ablitys for the most part untameble He is an adult male, that was severly neglected before he came here. and while grumpy, he has made an amazing recovery.
So occationally when in the pet store getting fish/dog/cat/ferret/turtle/lizard (not iguana) food, I see the occational cute little baby iguana that I dream of having around without attacking me.
so question, how small an area do you think 2 iguanas could be kept long after said baby has outgrown every reasonable container my house can hold.
I have a 10x25' room that I don't use that I have often thought about turning in to a tropical paradise with pond, fish, trees and anything else I can come up with. Could 2 Iggys live in that space, with enough places to call territory, if they were both captive raised.

Well.....Its not recommended. They are VERY territorial, I have had problems with my 2 that have grown up together (not in the same cage) male and female. Iggy has attacked Angus a few times over that year, and now they must stay seperated. Your idea sounds very nice but I wouldnt add another Ig, it can be dangerous. Almost forgot, awesome job on getting Spike on his feet again! Makes ya feel good dont it? To have made a difference in the little guys quality of life.

You already have an established male iguana. He will be extremely territorial and as Jennifer mentioned - very likely it will be dangerous. You will have at least one ig very hurt and possibly very dead. Since you have such a large room it will be very easy for you to build to separate enclosures. Keep in mind, too that igs can smell each other when they're set at opposite ends of a house. If your baby ended up being another male - Spike could become even more aggressive because the scent of another male will automatically place him in "defend territory" mode.
You best option would be to adopt an older female from a rescue who can match up an ig based more on your requirements - still keeping them in separate enclosures.
