i went to a pet store yesterday to fill out an application, and i saw the MOST emaciated little female iggy that i've ever seen! she was so skinny and sad looking!.... it hurt my heart... you could see all of her tail bones, and they had just shoved her into a cage with a water dragon..... and thedragon wasnt healthy eaither.... what should i do? cuz the others it had those "kissy lips" that iggies sometimes get... and she was drinking water like no tomorrow... but they said they had had her for a week or two and someone had brought her in from a field. well they were feeding her carrots, and romaine lettuce..... i went up to a girl that worked there and asked how long they had had her.... she said about a week and i was glad that they werent responsible for her being that way, but it still made me mad that they just threw her in with the WD. any suggestions? i cant get her cuz she's not for sale, and i cant have any more iggys atm...... ahh

I'm SOOO sorry for the delay in seeing this post!! I've been dealing with a few things and let this forum slip just a little. Thanks to others for filling in.
Offer a good care sheet for both animals. Give info on proper foods and good UVB. This will make a difference and possibly even win you a job there. Show what you know!!

That really sucks! Have you tried contacting the higher ups of the store or is it privately owned?

i did yesterday, and i've set up an appointment to talk to them on tuesday.. i've printed out all the important information on here that i could find... this is pretty much the only place i'll look for info on iguanas... i found a book that they had there for sale about iggys that said that iguanas REQUIRE meat at least once a day...... *rolls over dead* but i'll try and talk to them....

Oooohhh....Great news!! I wish you all the luck you need, too! Hopefully this will be a meeting with someone of an opened mind. I have some hope since the meeting was agreed to to begin with!

well i met with them... the two Gen. Manegers of the place sounded like they cared, and i gave them a BUNCH of info, i even gave them a book of mine. but as we ended the meeting, they called in a couple of employees and they had them separate the other reptiles from each other... they put the water dragons together, and the other baby iggys they had there *i told them to use Newspaper and not bark*, and it seemed like they were going to do it i hope so... i'll go back in about a month, and if the conditions are as they were before the meeting, i'll turn them in.... i hate to do it but..

You have GOT to feel good about what you've accomplished!! That was monumental and may end up making all the difference in how they care for those animals. What a great way to start a weekend...and a holiday one at that...:-)
