Hey yall....I have a question about an accident that happend this past week. I live in Baton Rouge and as you know about hurricane Gustav well me and and Spike had to go stay with a friend for a couple of days, and sometime on our trip she got a scrape on one of her toes. I was just wondering how serious do yall think the scrape sounds.....she lost some scales and she only bled for a couple of min. I noticed once we got back to the house a little blood on her foot and missing scales... I have no idea how this happend. But everyday for the last 3 days ive been soaking the scrape with Betadine and water and then applying Neosporine a couple of times a day. Im just wondering if this is something we should go to the vet for or if after a little time of keeping it clean an wrapping it will it heal. And I was wondering if she is in any pain and if there is anything that I can do to make her more comfortable because I feel pretty bad for her. Thanks for any information you can give me!

Just keep doing what your doing and wait for it to scab then just keep an eye on it, it should be fine.

Me,, I would stop the soaking and wrapping and let it try to do its own thing.. You did good by the first 3 day's of doing what you did.. Now I would suggest just let it do its own thing AS long as you keep that cage realy clean!! Keep soaking and bandaging it, then it won't get the scab that Jen suggested should happen. But also as she suggested, KEEP your eye on it!!
Just my thoughts!!

There's nothing wrong with keeping neosporin on the scrape during the healing process. Just as it helps people heal faster...so it does with igs. I wouldn't worry about continuing with the soaks though. Scabs are natures band-aids and do quite nicely protecting the wound.
