Nice looking iguana. You should remove the sawdust substrate IMO. Newspaper is easy.

Yes loose substrate is very unsafe for Iguanas, and if those are pine shavings they are not only an impaction issue but also toxic. Btw what a lovely Ig!

Wow...impressive little man you've got there. He's gorgeous. I can tell by the buldges at the base of his tail in the first picture and you can also kinda see it in the last one too. Defintely wanna get rid of the sawdust or anything his tongue might pick up by accident. Iguana's smell with their tongue and by flicking it the pieces of the chips or whatever loose material is arround will likely get stuck to it and brought back into the mouth to be swallowed. Also, judging by the pictures (and it is very hard to tell), it looks like he's in a glass tank. If that is the case can you let us know the dimensions (inches or feet preferably)? Your iguana looks old enough that he should be in a large space no smaller than 3x3x5 (and even then you may as well offer the full 4x5 x6' high. Any details on the little guy will help us help you (if you need it that is

. i also put sawdust around 8 month ago. What 's the happening if i continous put the sawdust for substrate . If the ig accidently swallows it it could cause impaction of the digestive tract. In other words it forms a plug which basically blocks the intestines, reducing or preventing the elimination of wastes and will cause the ig to sicken and die. Anything that the ig can get in its mouth poses this risk.

Yes carpet is fine however, newspaper is another alternative. Its easier to clean up, you just roll it up toss it and put new down ;D

I have outdoor carpet in Reptarr's cage. I just take it outside and rinse all the poo off with the hose and let it dry up and put it back in.
That is a beautiful iguana. I'm lovin' the blue.
