I've always had trouble finding variety for my Iguana green bean. I have a Kroger and a Wal-mart to choose from when it comes to big chain grocery stores. Mostly she gets fed Collard and Turnip Greens, and she gets green beans also. Recently I tried her on Cilantro and some yellow bell pepper; she liked the cilantro but turned her nose up at the bell pepper. Bell pepper doesn't have much as far as nutrition so that’s okay. I really want to get her some dandy greens, because I've heard these were very nutritious for Iggy's. Unfortunately, I can't find the dandelion greens around anywhere. Despite the fact she doesn't get a huge variety she still seems healthy and active. Any one else have problems finding varieties of food. Will it hurt her health long term if she doesn't get a huge variety of food? I know they don't add to nutrition but she gets some banana once a week too because she's my special girl. Here's my favorite picture of her.

Correction she now likes the pepper, she just wasn't sure at first. Can you feed the skin of the pepper to an Iggy? I don't feed the seeds; I figured they would be too hard to digest. Should you feed canned green beans or fresh green beans? I've been feeding unsalted canned green beans for a while and my Iggy absolutely loves them.

Fresh is always best What about squashes? I can imagine any store that doesnt carry those. Do you have a farmers market around?

Well I'm going to buy a Butternut squash when I'm in Wal-Mart next, try her on that. During the summer months we have farmers markets that come and go. I guess I just have to shop around and get what I can find.

One of my personal diet variations from Walmart AND Kroger (because often Kroger has fresher produce):
Collard greens turnip greens mustard greens (when available) cilantro green beans parsnips butternut squash red bell pepper Italian Herb blend (Kroger) blackberries this week (on sale)
Dandelions are a yard item. Only when Mother Nature provides that one do the beasts here get any. I do switch up some stuff now and again - for instance I might use acorn squash, delicata, raw pumpkin, etc in place or in combination together. Green beans may become snap peas and sometimes okra when I'm feeling like feeding them something gross. Bell pepper sometimes becomes jalepeno peppers (do NOT scratch your bum before washing your hands with milk!!). Lizards to not react the same way to hot peppers the way we do.

www.greenigsociety.org/foodchart.htmi take this list to me with the grocery every time I go. It makes a huge difference because I am actually looking for specific items, rather than just poking around the grocery trying to find things I think iguanas are supposed to be able to eat.
