Hello to you all i have just joind the forum, live in emsworth hampshire uk. And i have a 5 year old iguana. (Sparky) Currently he is in season and very snappy. I feel like i am going into the lion enclosure, when trying to feed him. I have given him a green crocodile to beat up. It worked for a while, but when Sparky sees me he launches at his glass window. I might add he does get full run of my 12" x 9" conservatory. This mood has lasted since November and still going on. Any tips to help matter will be uesfull.

Hi there, Sparky is beautiful! I love his coloration. It can be normal behavior unfortunately but some good tips are to avoid wearing bright colors, no fast movements, also loud or unfamiliar noises can set them off as well. Any other sort of animals around can stress them out if the iguana sees them as a threat. When my iguana Gwendolyn would get feisty, head bob, gape, and posture at me I would stand my ground until she calmed down (it took a while sometimes). Granted I don't have a male iguana in season; if he gets too aggressive don't risk injury. Give him some space if needed but let him know you aren't afraid of him by standing your ground when you can.
Thanks for the tips. sparky is still fiesty. I just give him food to eat while i clean him. Its a risky task, like going into the lions den. Hope he is over it soon. Next thing is he will need a new house. He is already 5 foot from head to tail.
