I <attempted to> rescue a female that was very orange... she was VERY sweet and quite a beauty. I thought it odd that a female would be so orange... at the time I wondered if her diet had something to do with it. She was fed romaine and strawberry yogurt! I would have loved to keep her, but she didn't survive the transition. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png)

You know I have often wondered if spaying a female would result in more male characteristics coming through... maybe it has something to do with "when" they get spayed and the "age" . Who knows....Vegas is pretty with or without the male characteristics...and since one of my favorite colors is orange, Rocky my big boy is one of my faves because in full breeding season he is solid light orange ....very beautiful....Lyn

She never showed orange until after she was spayed? Thrasher has quite a few orange spots, but not nearly as much as Vegas. It's "purdy". ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Icecube has shown orange color. Not much...but some. I'd have to search for a pic. I have a friend who has a spayed female that is showing very male characteristics. As a matter of fact, we were just talking about her over the weekend and he sent me a picture. ![](http://img38.photobucket.com/albums/v116/prism_wolf/ShowLetter.jpg) It's not that she's orange right now, but look at the brain bumps...fatty deposits are forming giving her head a very male appearance. Not only that, but her jowls are also thickening.

And now that Vegas' pics have finally finished loading...lol...she really shows those same characteristics.
Hmmm...wonder if there's such a thing as hormonal replacement for igs...lol...J/K...but there sure seems to be some correlation to spayed females and having them taking on the male characteristcs.
Even females of any species has some amount of testosterone just as males have a level of estrogen. If the estrogen factory is taken out then it goes without saying that it must lead to elevated testosterone levels bringing on these trait changes.

Oops, sorry 'bout that long loading time ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I just didn't GIMP it to reduce filesize; I"m lazy! But it gives great detail! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) This isn't the first time I've heard 'bout the possiblity of hormone replacement. But then I'd be hesitant to even try it on Vega$, not knowing the long-term effects of that practice, and of course, not knowing what is the appropriate dosage! Bumps and jowls are fatty deposit areas. Could also be possiblity that the ig's body isn't geared to producing eggs; therefore, it gets redirected for storage?
