I had Cleo out and was petting her and rubbing her outstretched dewlap and I felt this lump right where the paper thin part of her dewlap stops and the fleshy part starts. there has been no injury. as they get more mature, will the area fatten up? you dont notice it unless you touch it. in the anatomy thread the spot that is pointed out on the dewlap is where the lump is

Sometimes they just get those little lumps and bumps. If it gets much bigger kind of quickly you may want to get it checked out, but right now just keep an eye on it.

now that the lump has gotten bigger it looks like she was bit by a very small spider I guess we will find out next friday. she isnt acting sick so I guess that is a good sign. the lump causes her pain when I touch it. if the grow keeps progressing as it has I will try to get her in to the vet sooner. My poor baby!!!!!!!

Sounds like the start of an abcess. It's a good thing you have an appointment with a vet though, at least you can get it checked out as soon as you can and get treatment if needs be. Generally in anywhere else on the body it's hard to notice a small lump like that, at least you can see it in an easily notice part. Keep us posted.

Since the lump is growing larger and it is painful It may very well be a spider bite. I would go ahead and schedule a vet visit. Iguanas are VERY good at hiding illness and if you wait till she shows that she is sick, she will be very sick!

I was wondering should I not handle Cleo as much beacause of the lump, or should I treat her as I normally would?

I would treat as you normally would...just mind where your hands is in regards to the lump if it's sore.

I would hate not being able to hold her, Im still working on socilizing her, and hopefully its somewhat of a comfort for her having her head rub (since shes probabky not feeling well). her vet appointment will be this Friday instead.

Is it Friday yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?? the lump is well huge now. you can really see the marks that look like a spider bit her and the lump is slightly discolored on that side. Its a 2 sided lump because its in the dewlap and I noticed there is a smaller lump below it along the very edge of the dewlap. this is a nightmare. I am so attatched to her (as I am all my critters) but Ive spent so much time fattening her up and taking care of her nose when it was all banged up from the pet store. just needed to vent. She is still eating very well.

Is there any way you can get a picture of it up here? I'm just curious what this looks like, plus you never know, maybe someone else has seen the same thing and could have some ideas. Even if no one's seen anything like it it would be a learning experience for those who haven't. Just a thought. It might also be a good idea to take pictures of it's progression and even throughout the healing process. It's always good to document health concerns. Good luck and keep us posted.
