Not being a pest! Its scary the first time you go thru it! She looks to have enough fat stores to do just fine. Once she slows and then stops eating the important thing is fluids. At this time, and no other, I can take a mister bottle and spray Zok's lips and she will lap it up. You want to get as much water into her as she will take. A slurry is fine too if she will take it. Usually with all those eggs in there there is no room for food.

NOT a pest!! What good would a forum like this be if they weren't here to answer worried iggy-parents' questions!? I'll have to take Merlin's word on the tail. Pics are blocked from work - but he'll have it pegged. His own Zok is all girl and he's been through it a time or three... ;D.

Gosh, Thanks you guys..I'd be lost with you peeps OMG I can't say Thank you enough....I guess now I just play the waiting game......She took a good bath this morning 30 min, she usually lets me know when she is done, she'll crawls out and sit on the counter and looks at me like "ok I'm done" I did keep warming up her water just to let you know.....I give her a bath 3X a day. She's been real quiet today, she went down to her lay box and looked around and pawed it a couple of times and then went back up stairs to bask....
Question, If she doesn't take a slurry, should I force feed it or just keep giving her fluids.....
OMG I'm so nervous I have heard so many horror stories about gravid female it scares me to death..... I'll keep you posted.................
Thanks Again.......Annie

LOL...it's always worse on the owner than the ig...poor thing...lol. Some igs take well to "assisted" feeding - some it really stresses out. If she does well with the slurry then there's no reason why you can't continue. If she flat starts to refuse - don't push it. She'll be fine. Bribing her with the juicy fruits will be enough...and a good way to spoil her. What other time will she get only the foods she would normally get as just a treat...:-D

Well I fixed her a slurry this afternoon and OMG she loved it..I didn't even have to force it down her she drank it right from the syringe...I'm so happy I feel better now knowing she had a little something to eat. She hasn't eaten in 4 days. I made it up kinda watery I didn't want it too thick..
How often should I feed it to her?..She usually eat twice a day..I fill her bowl up twice a day...
Thanks..........

That's tough! How often - as often as you can and she still eat. I would start with the two and if you think she can do more - excellent.

When she won't eat, do NOT try to force feed her. This is very stressful, not to mention dangerous! If you get too rough with her you may rupture the eggs in side her and this is major bad news! Just try and relax. Remember that igs in the wild have been going thru this without our help just fine for millenia!

Worrying a bit is fine,... as long as you don't let it eat you up! I know about the horror stories, but they should only serve to make you more observant, not terrify you. The number of igs that have problems is inconsequential compared to the number who don't. You'll get thru it just fine,...both of you.

That's good that she's finding her nesting box and digging in it, she'll be more likely to use it if she's going there on her own. I agree with Merlin and Prism, as long as she takes her slurry willingly, there's no problem with feeding her that. Just don't force her. Just make sure to keep an eye on her water bowl and keep it filled with fresh, clean water. Some igs won't drink water out of a bowl, and some will. My baby, Mercury, used to drain her water bowl in one sitting when she was gravid. Once she stops eating, it usually means you've got about a week to two weeks before she lays. Oh...and be prepared for a shocking sight when she emerges from the nesting box. She'll be SCARY SKINNY, I mean, like a little, green skeleton, but don't worry, its perfectly normal. Give her some comfort food when she comes out, because she'll DEFINITELY have her appetite back. Some igs, like mine, will tend the nest for a day or two and then move on. Its probably best to wait until she's done tending before you remove the eggs. What are you planning on doing with the eggs? My suggestion is that if you have a local reptile rescue or shelter, you can donate the eggs to them to be used as food for other reptiles. This way, we don't add to the overpopulation problem, and an unwanted reptile gets to benefit from it. Win...win! ;D

Thanks IK, Her eggs are infertile, she wasn't with a male.
My males are too young plus even if I did incubate fertile eggs, knowing me I would want to keep all the babies......and Lord knows I don't need any more iggys I have 4 already plus 4 Water Dragons..I'm going to start breeding my dragons when they are old enough, There's not to many CB Water Dragon breeder around and most of the WD's you get in the pet stores are wild caught and sick and full of parasites...... and usually end up dying...Just like the iggys...Gosh I wished there was something we could do about it but I wouldn't even know where to start....
OK I'm rambling again I'll stop..but any way Thanks again to everyone for helping me ..I will keep you posted......

You can still donate those eggs though, so they go to a good cause.

Thanks IK for the idea but, I don't have any rescue near me but I might talk to my friend at the pet store may be they could feed them to the snakes or something...... She did a lot of digging today, more so than yesterday..I got a cute picture of her poking her head out of the box Here she is sleeping on her pillow, she used to sleep in side it when she was little, but she got to big for it, but she does love to sleep on it........ Still drinking the slurries so thats good and going potty too.
