YEP! Check this out EC! This pic is of the eggs Thrasher had last fall. They didn't develop shells (preovulatory stasis), and she had to have them surgically removed. but just LOOK at the mass compared to her body!

Bok Choy has a decent calcium to Phosphorus ratio, but it is high in goitrogens. Goitrogens inhibit the body's use of iodine; excessive quantities will cause problems with the thyroid function. It can be used as an occasional food item. My personal definition of occasional is that I would ony buy it once a month or so and mix it with the other stapel food items. Ive never heard of them either!! Is this what you are talking about? I found them to be aka peanut squash, sweet potato squash, and Cucurbita pepo; but I didn't find any info in the USDA database using those names either. I found that it is an heirloom variety. The food network encyclopedia says they are good sources of potassium, iron and vitamins A and C.

I sometimes make a veggie mix in the food processor with greens added to it. (cause I can't bear to let them go a day with no greens.) My greens get frozen when I fix that stuff.......the igs love it. and yep.....pomegranates have more seed than fruit! not a good thing.

Have wondered about that myself, but never found a good answer. I'll try to remember to look into further. (How's school?)

Nancy, Tell Will I said to stop worrying his momma so much and eat his food like a good little iguana!!
In the event that he still refuses.... Here's a thought.... I have fed all sorts of veggies and greens made into a slurry. I ran normal food thru the processor, but there were still some chunks that were too big to suck up into a dropper. Sooooo....I used a baby medicine dropper with the squeezy thing, but I cut the end off to make the hole slightly larger so that it would suck up the tiny bits of food. Don't know if that will be helpful to you, but it worked great for my situation.

This weeks menu for my 5 brats consists of: Collard, turnip, and mustard greens fed daily. Current veggies are: acorn squash, sweet potato, zuchini, yellow squash, green beans, jicama, and butternut squash. I buy a bunch of veggies, peel and cut them to the size needed to throw into my food processor and then freeze them all together in a big bag. Twice a week I thaw what I need, run them thru the food processor, and put a big "blob" of veggies on top of their greens. All five of them eat the veggies first and then go back to snack on the greens later in the day. At least they are consistent. ;D

I realize ya'll are just kiddin each other with the Bush/Kerry jokes, but I decided to remove the remarks anyway. Some people would find it offensive and I would prefer that we don't take that chance here. Thanks, --Tesa

I made the mistake of buying pre-cut collards a couple of weeks ago... spent more time picking out all the BIG stems than if I'd just bought them whole as usual Never again lol

I feed all my lizards mid-morning (about 10) and give them enough to last all day. His viv sounds good. You can move him into the adult cage any time you want as long as you are sure it's escape proof for such a tiny guy.
The others are right about the greens. Its difficult to give such a little guy a good variety without the food going bad (unless you eat the same things) I generally buy one each of 2-3 veggies, peel, cut, and freeze them so all I have to do is thaw and run thru the food processor. I have also run everything (including greens) thru the food processor to make a "glop". I freeze it on a pizza pan into about tablespoon sized portions. After its frozen I put it in a zip lock bag and voila......TV dinners for the green kid. ;D

hi JB Can ya tell me how big the iguana is rather than just how old? My baby is about 4 inches SVL and eats about a tabespoon of mixed greens per day... hope that helps.
