PVC is something I've used for the outdoor enclosure, but not for indoor use...though it has been brought in twice for rehabs attaching the lights to the upper, inside plastic mesh.
The bottom would be the hardest to seal unless you are as handy as Mark and know how to sew well. For a kid with no job, $300 may as well be $3000.
Making the PVC cage with mesh sides would cost about $100, but this would be lacking the sealed environment to hold in heat and humidity and easy cleaning.
*sigh*

I certanly know that $300 is a lot of money, Bob and I eat for two months on less than that. I am a kid with a 55-60 hour a week job (school) that I pay a lot to do. I can do this in pieces too, that is if my cage is the type of thing you want. Something like just the bottom at one point, walls a few months later, front to finish it all off later still. Heck my tarp floor can be made to fit any cage then you just attach the velcro to the cage wall. How to attach it depends on wall type. Adding it to the TV cabinet will make it so the bottom is easily removed and cleaned daily keeping aditional smell from building up in the cage that you have.

What a great option! Purchase in pieces! This can work! Melissa...if you haven't seen Mark's enclosure, it's really a very good design...and is portable! Go into the housing section and the first post flagged you will find his enclosure.

But I applied for a job at Tim Horton's the other day, so if i get it, I'll buy him a new one!

Good for you, Melissa Sounds like you got past your shyness. Good for you. I HATE ugly smells, too. I understand your Dad on this. Makes me want to heave, but... Hmmmm, I wish he could advance you the money to buy a reasonable cage. One way or another, I know you would pay him back. I think this is what families are about. I hope you will find the way to turn the key and get his help.

Yeah.. Zeke is okay.. I need to get him a proper UVB light tho.. He seems slower than usual.. I was talking to Heather and she said she's going to try to find someone to build a new cage for me.. But my sister isn't dependable AT ALL and I dunno if she's going to do it! I'll keep on top of her tho! -Melissa&Zeke-

Melissa - You have come so incredibly far with Zeke! I am very impressed with your tenacity WAY TO GO! You're right about getting him a proper UVB light - that's incredibly important. Not having one was a big part of the reason he got so sick before. Are you still able to take him outside for sun? How have you been getting him the UVB he needs? Just curious Glad to hear Zeke is doing so well! Sincerely, ~Nan

Well I went to the hardware store with Dad last night, and i was looking at bulbs, and one of the workers came over to help me.. He said that they didn't have any, but told me of a few places that might have them, and gave me advice to maybe call a veterinarian office and ask where I could find one..
I haven't been able to get Zeke outside to bask in the sun because it hasn't been sunny out lately, and plus; there's snow on the ground here! But it is quite sunny today, so i might see if its alright to let him lie on the window sill at least!

Unfortunately sunning in the window sill won't do it. The glass filters out the UVB that the iguana is needing.
The hardware store is not going to have UVB bulbs. These are specifically for reptiles. You are going to have to either get them from a pet store or order them online. Online they will be considerably cheaper.

Yup, the only benefit he'll receive from sitting in a window is the wonderful Infrared rays. Unfortunately, like Merlin said, UVB won't remain in any significant amount once the light goes through the window. I'm actually really impressed that the hardware store guy didn't say, "Oh yeah, we've got those." and sell you something completely worthless. One on-line place to try is www.reptileuv.com, Its the BEST artificial UVB solution available and BobMac provides the best customer service. Just have a look at the MegaRay EB Flood, I've had incredible results with this bulb, you certainly wouldn't have to worry about inadequate UVB again. They're a little pricy to begin with ($75 USD), because the ballast is part of the kit, but, relatively speaking, the bulbs themselves ($45 USD) are comparable in price to others that aren't nearly as good.

I know its expensive Melissa, but, unfortunately, there are no cheap solutions to the UVB problem. With the support and service you get from BobMac, along with the superior UVB production from his products, its a very good investment. With others, you'll probably pay about $30-$40 just for the bulbs, which are adequate but not as good, you then have to worry about getting a good ballast/fixture for them (the ballast also matters in UVB production)...then, if something goes wrong, you're left to deal with a huge corporation that couldn't possibly provide you with the same level of service (too big for their own good). I'm wondering...has anybody here who has a UVB meter tried measuring the available UVB inside a window? I'm curious to know if the UVB is completely attenuated, or if there might be some useable amount left over...you know...just to help Melissa get Zeke through to when she can afford a good UVB light for him. It only got up to about 35 F today in Colorado, so I can only imagine what it must be like further north, where you live, Melissa. Definitely not good weather to bring an ig outside. I can definitely relate to your Christmas stress. ;D
