Cilantro - may also be called "Coriander" or "Chinese Parsley" - It has a strong 'spicy' smell and taste to it.

Well Dad got some collard greens last night! I'm going to go chop some up for Zeke now..
Should I chop up the stems too ? Or just the leaves?

I don't feed stems either. I just tear out the middle (thickest) one, unless the offshoots are REALLY thick.

Zeke loves the collards!
I have one little problem though; the enclosure that we have for Zeke was previously a home for about 10-12 anolies (spelling?). And the owner didn't clean out the cage, but to make it worse, the cage is wood, except for the front, which is glass.. The urine and stool from the anolies absorbed into the wood, and now whenever i turn on the UV light, it absolutely stinks! My dad really isn't impressed..
My sister has tried to paint on a type of sealent, but it didn't work as expected..
Now my dad says that something has to be done with the iguana.. Mainly sell him, but I've refused.. My dad said "You'd really be upset if we sold that iguana, wouldn't you?" and i replied with "YES! I nursed him back to health.. I love that ig, Dad! That wouldn't be fair!" and he understood.. But something needs to be done!
I don't really know what to do tho.. I'd get a new cage, but I know they're WAY too expensive for the budget in my pocket would allow.. And Dad refuses to buy one.. And my sister definatly won't either.
So I'm not too shore what to do! :S

;D
Well the old stinky cage thing......
First off it is a common problem with (hand me down type wooden enclosures)
You will need a temporary habitat set up for a few days in order to get rid of this smell....
#1 remove all cage furniture and prepare a bleach and water solution ....50/50 ( use rubber gloves) ( 50/50 is quite strong however we will be rinsing well later) bring the cage outdoors and spray the entire cage, you will need to let this soaK FOR A FULL DAY 12 HR min
#2 Get out the garden hose and rinse and completly saok the cage with clean fresh water , let the water dry ...then sprinkle baking soda all over the cage ..let it sit for another full day out doors in the fresh air.
#3 On the third day you can rinse well again and let dry completley. "Dont be shy while rinsing" give it a good blast of fresh water.
#4 Bring the cage indoors after it is completly dry and set up all the lights ...let the cage come up to temperature ...you should not smell a bleach smell,if you do rinse it again and ensure the strong order is gone before placing the Iggy is put back into it.
If you can afford the time tyou can get a wood sealer that will help ensure this problem dosn't come back...Im not sure what brand sealer works best but someone here will let you know im sure.
I know this seems like allot of work but it will get rid of the smell .
Hope this helps

What James has given you for cleaning instructions should work well. This is very thorough and what you need to do to make sure there are no cooties left of any kind from the previous occupants.
Use a water-based polyeurothane. Lowe's carries this almost exclusively anymore. They are steering away from oil-based paints and plan to complete the total conversion soon.
When using a sealer...make sure you have the cage totally and completely dry before covering it with 3-4 coats of the sealer. Let dry for the recommended amount of time listed in the instructions on the can...then allow to air dry for another 3 days before putting Zeke in there.

Well I asked dad about it, and he said that the smell has absorbed too much into the wood (and there's already a sealent on it) so the bleach solution wouldn't work :S Zeke looks great! -Melissa&Zeke-

I think it would work at very least it would get rid of allot of the odor, however if your dad wont even let you try ...how about the possibility of asking him to help you build a new habitat..?
It could be like a father /daughter project...you know bonding and all that .... ;D
It dosn't have to be costly ...you might be suprised what you could build from other peoples old wood ...junk to them ..but maybey great cage building material gor Zeke
just a thought..

How about you build it....?
How about you and a friend build it ?
How about you ask wood shop teacher in your school for some help...?
I know you love Zeke and you are one determined Iggy owner ..when it comes to the well being of this little green friend of yours ...you will figue out somthing....

Melissa...your dad has been saying a lot of things, but look...you still have him...and he's still alive. If you use an aquarium...do not use any less than a 55 gal up to when he's about a year old or so. He will outgrow this fairly quickly. This size will allow you the proper heat gradients needed for his health. Look in yard sales, put your own ad in the paper looking for a used 55 gal. fish tank. Ask friends, but building doesn't need to be hard OR expensive. Going to Lowe's or Home Depot (or whatever home improvement place you have there)...they have remnant wood...stuff they cut from custom orders but can't use for anything themselves. This stuff just gets tossed. There are people that go in and ask for this stuff to be saved for them and at the end of the week they pick up this stuff. You can do this. Just nail a box frame together. Right now just make it 4'H x 4'L x 2'D. This will last you a couple of years. Make solid sides, top and bottom. If you can, get plexiglass for the doors. If you can't, use a hardware mesh found in the garden dept. This stuff sells pretty cheap. Keep trying Melissa. You're breaking Dad down little by little...
