LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! That was good!!
All kidding aside, I firmly believe that the food should not be given whole.

eekkkk! I worry too much to NOT tear up Thrasher's. They don't have any way to tear off bite sized pieces if the leaves aren't "anchored" and can choke easily. I've spoken to two people personally who had igs die that way.

I hot glued a clothespin in her cage as a clip. I usually put about half a collard leaf in maybe 3-4 times a week. That's completely up to you. She doesn't usually eat the whole thing..just tears chunks out of it when she is bored I think. ;D

No Joe.......You are doin fine. Greens should be chopped into pieces about the size of the iguanas head. ( I remove those hard collard stems completey) When I saw the pic, I told Jen she needed to tear/cut them smaller. Veggies should be small too. Remember that iguanas can't chew. Veggies should be grated or run thru the food processor. ( I have seen people cut them larger, but igs can get them in, pack more in, and digest them easier if they are small.) That said: Lots of people (myself included) will attach a clip of some sort into the iguanas enclosure and hang a whole collard (or whatever) leaf from it so that the animal can tear bites out of it. That's more for "entertainment" tho than for the actual meal.

Not that I'm aware of. Everything I read while doing the research suggested that we modify the diet so that the Potassium intake is lowered. (and I read ALOT) lol Nowhere did I find anything describing how it could be offset.

Roc, Not only are bananas crappy in the Calcium to Phosphorus ratio, but they are also low in iron and protein. Another potential problem is the high potassium level. Yeah, that seems weird since that's one of the reasons they are so good for people. ;D Here's a link to the explanation as to why Potassium can be harmful. tesa.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=diet&action=display&thread=1066652394Here's a link to IZ's food information chart. You can compare the nutritional values of some fruits here and find a good replacement. This isn't to say they should NEVER have bananas, just that they should be used sparingly. webpages.charter.net/tesa64735/Revised2.htmLet me know if I can help more..

Everyone does the food differently. I wash, dry, and tear all my greens on the same day I buy them, then put them in seperate ziplock bags with paper towels to absorb excess moisture. This way all I have to do if I'm in a hurry is grab a handful from each bag and throw them on a plate. They generally stay good for 7-10 days.
I buy enough veggies for about a week at a time, (one small squash, a handful of green beans, small bag of alfalfa sprouts)peel and cut them into manageable portions, and throw them in the freezer. I only use a small amount of each and make enough for about 2-3 days at a time. All of them go thru the food processor: squash, green beans, snow peas, parsnips...everything Im feeding her that week. Thrasher gets a HUGE salad and about a half cup of veggies every morning, and another smaller salad in the afternoon if she asks for it. Fruit is reserved for evening treats while I'm holding her before bedtime.

Maybe she would do beter with the leaves being torn rather than run thru the food processor?? Just give her time. She'll come around. They just enjoy driving us crazy ;D

I can't find any nutritional values on flowers. You feed Bob well, he won't get enough flowers to cause concern about his health.
