It could be a hemipene. but couldn't it also be a stuck plug? It's very hard to tell from the pic.

Very rarely will a vet perform this type of surgery unless there is a life threatening issue that requires it being done.

What kind of lighting are you using? Brand and size does it produce UVB/UVA rays? What are your basking, ambient, and cool side temps? What size tank is he in? The tank in the pic is that the one he is currently housed in? If so remove the bark and use either newspaper, butcher paper or paper towels. You will need a digital temp gauge as they are more accurate also a gauge for humidity. What foods are you feeding?

if your not gonna give up using bark then i suggest at least put newspaper at the bottom and LIGHTLY put the bark on top, try keeping the food and water area clear from bark, the last thing you want is bark getting in the food as when the iguana trys to eat its greens and a piece gets stuck on one then it will eat it on accident. You say your iguana is raised with bark well first off the pet stores dont know what they are doing period so yeah your iguana might of lived with bark in the time he lived in the pet store, but your iguana is NOT that old so to say it was raised with it is wrong since it only lived with it for maybe just 2-4 months which it not long at all. Absolutely no loose substrate should be used. It is an impaction risk as Igs have sticky tongues and can accidentally pick stuff up when tasting their surroundings.

ok I replaced the coconut stuff with paper towels fer now.. where's the best place to get reptile carpet fer when I get the new cage built? Thank Ya'll so much fer the help! I recommend news paper or butcher paper they are not pretty but they are functional and inexpensive. Also easier to maintain. I have my male in the habit of going potty in the shower. I put him in around the same time each day, turn the shower on and he goes within a minute. It has taken a few months to get to this point. I learned the hard way not to forget to potty him by a certain time as he will go poop on my bed

Wow he sure had me fooled, poor baby I hope my male never does that. That might explain his feminine appearance though. Any idea why he wouldn't/couldn't pull them back in? The side that is showing, is that the affected scale? If the scales is noticeably bigger on one side compared to the other I would get it checked out just to be safe, it could be an abscess.

GAWD its been so long since I have been here! As I told Veronica a few months before I left, my job was REALLY eatin' me alive. Wasn't left with much time for IguanaZone, but this place was always something I cherished...in the interest of keeping it going for our founder, Tesa. Just to update everybody...Audrey never recovered fully from her spinal injury, so she has been a paraplegic iguana for the past 3 years. But, she is still living a happy, healthy life, and is coming up on her 10th birthday. Heh...I guess it has helped her to have a 22 pound bobcat hybrid that I adopted when my bro went to Afghanistan in 2006 around. I know it sounds weird, but her and that cat LOVE each other. They're rarely apart. LOL. In case anyone remembers Hercules...he's fine too...coming up on his 17th b-day this year. Kinda pissy, as male igs usually are, but he is also a happy, healthy ig. My thanks go out to all who have kept this place alive...especially Merlin and Jen. You guys RAWK! Hope that Veronica is OK. Great to hear from you! Glad Audrey is still with you as well, and happy she has a good buddy to keep her company it's an odd relationship ;D. Hercules is becoming a grumpy old man? lol Take care hope to see you around again soon. Haven't heard much from Veronica lately.
